Let’s Keep Small Businesses Going

Here at LittleBlaqBox, we celebrate small businesses, and we go out of our way to show our love and support through our own Black-owned small business. 

What are small businesses?

What makes a business small? The definition of a small business is complex and varies depending on the industry, but in a nutshell, the Small Business Association defines small businesses as for-profit businesses based in the United States with less than 1,500 employees and a maximum of $38.5 million on average annual receipts. Currently, there are 30.2 million small businesses in the U.S. and they make up over 99% of all American businesses.

Why should we all support small businesses?

There are so many reasons why we should all support small businesses. According to the Small Business Administration, as of 2019, small businesses are responsible for two-thirds of net new jobs and account for 44 percent of the economic activity in the United States. Small businesses help not only the American economy but the local economies in the communities and neighborhoods they are located in. They bring local jobs, products, and services, and they build community. 

Why LittleBlaqBox supports small businesses

We support small businesses because we believe in creating ecosystems that support and uplift each other. Not every business has the same access to essential resources like marketing assets, customer support, design, etc. By supporting other small businesses we can increase brand awareness, cash flow, community, and resources amongst each other in the process.

How we support small businesses

All small businesses are dope, but we especially love minority-owned, woman-owned, and LGBTQ+ businesses. These businesses face extra hardships getting off the ground and staying afloat. In each box, we prioritize minority-owned, woman-owned, and LGBTQ+ businesses. When curating each LittleBlaqBox, we take our time, do our research, and specifically seek out these small businesses to be featured in our boxes.

Keep Small Business Going

There are a lot of small and mid-sized minority businesses out there. Why not give them some shine? Inside each box, we include at least one product from a minority business. We hope you enjoy the item in the box, but more importantly, we hope that you continue to shop with the business in the box.
